Learn more about Gaby:
Why did you want to intern at the art gallery?
“I’ve always enjoyed spending time in creative, self-expressive places. I’m excited to learn more about and further appreciate fine art this semester.”
Who is your favorite artist? Why?
“This is probably not the answer you’re looking for, but the first thing that comes to mind is Charles Schulz and his Peanuts cartoons. I know that comics are different than what’s usually thought of as art, but I think there’s still something to the simplicity of the drawings and the beloved characters.”
What is your earliest memory of art?
“When I was little, I took some art classes at a local museum. While I don’t remember too much from them (other than a really bad bloody nose incident), I do remember that a piece I made was hung up in the art class exhibit space. I remember feeling really proud of that!”
Favorite piece of art on campus?
“There are a few photographs of famous dancers, such as Martha Graham, hanging in the halls by the dance studios in Baker. Seeing these before dance class is inspiring!”
What is your favorite thing about working in the art gallery?
“Seeing the new exhibits! No matter what is on display, I love the openness and calmness of the gallery and how the different pieces of art change the atmosphere of the space.”
What are you most excited to do this semester in the art gallery (or in art in general)?
“I’m excited to see the different exhibitions in the gallery spaces.”
Feel free to come chat with Gaby or any of our other interns Mon-Friday 10-5 and Sat-Sunday 12-4.
