The Van Every Gallery presents works from the Davidson National Print and Drawing Competition, which was held annually from 1972-1976. The competition began forty years ago and was one of the earliest exhibitions organized by Professor Emeritus Herb Jackson. Each year, the Davidson National drew thousands of entries and featured a prominent juror. This exhibition features works from Davidson’s permanent art collection that earned Purchase Awards, and includes artists such as Peter Milton, Robert Motherwell, Isabel Bishop and Alexander Calder.
An opening reception will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Center. There is no charge to attend the opening reception or the exhibit, which will be on display in the Van Every Gallery of the Belk Visual Arts Center through January 19.
