DAVIDSON COLLECTS: A Celebration of Art & Learning
The Davidson College Art Department, the Van Every / Smith Galleries, the College Writing Program, and Davidson College Friends of the Arts invite you to a very special event to celebrate the generosity of our many donors to the visual arts program and the creative achievements of one hundred student writers.

WILLIAM H. VAN EVERY GALLERY
RECENT GIFTS & ACQUISITIONS
This exhibition will feature more than fifty new works from Davidson College's permanent art collection and is curated by gallery interns Keeley Jacobs '12, Adrian Muoio '14, Sara Nordstrand '14, and Lauren Wilson '14. Featured will be unique works by Jim Dine, Hans Hofmann, David Hockney, Beverly Pepper, and a major new sculpture commission by the internationally renowned Polish sculptor Magdalena Abakanowicz.

SEAN SCULLY: Works on Paper
A selection of unique works on paper by the internationally renowned artist Sean Scully will be on view in the Edward M. Smith Gallery, to complement the display of his painting in Davidson’s E.H. Little Library.

BOOK LAUNCH
DAVIDSON COLLECTS: 100 WRITERS RESPOND TO ART
The evening of January 18th will also mark the release of the new 280-page, full-color book, Davidson Collects: 100 Writers Respond to Art, which includes essays by one hundred Davidson students on works from the College's permanent art collection.

Major funding for the book and this public event is made possible through a generous gift from Wells Fargo. Additional funding provided by Davidson College Friends of the Arts and the Herb Jackson and Laura Grosch Gallery Endowment.

Weekdays: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Weekends: Noon - 4 p.m.
Guest parking is available in the lot behind the Belk Visual Arts Center. The building is wheelchair accessible. All programs of the Van Every/Smith Galleries are free and everyone is welcome.
